New Additions ~
Kenyan Orphanage for Teen Girls
Rosemary Chemangwen is the house parent for eighteen orphan teenage girls plus three of her own children. (Rosemary was widowed when her husband was killed in Turkana in 2007.) We are building the girls a new building with showers and toilets. The girls are overjoyed! If you would like to help complete this project, we would be grateful. It will possibly cost an extra $10,000 to complete the building, along with new beds and furniture.
Cheringani Hills Baby Rescue Center - This home houses 60 children under the age of five. 2009 marks the beginning of Love Mercy's support for this much needed rescue center.
Streams Of Life Children’s Home in Mili Mani 15 girls are cared for here. Monthly support for this new Home is needed for food and other needs.
IDP orphans - These orphans are presently living with volunteers. They need monthly support for food and to develop them into homes for the children.
Hope Love Mercy Children’s Homes organization needs monthly funding to get help where it is needed as the directors assess the needs of struggling children’s homes in the Kitale area. There are many current homes just run by good-hearted people that are struggling to get by that could use a helping hand. Many of these are not registered homes but are just people who have taken in orphans into their homes.
Our desire is to change this African Desert into a well-watered garden, one oasis at a time. We plan to do this through a combination of borehole-drilling, irrigation and intensive gardening.
After successfully drilling our first well in west central Kenya, we decided to go north to the remote desert area of the Turkana District.
We went to the village of Naroos, located between the town of Lodwar and the brackish waters of Lake Turkana.
For years, the local people there have depended on stagnant water of the Turkwell River. Many have died from diseases due to the unclean water.
However, after the chief of the village granted us 10 acres of land, we began our Turkana Water Project.
Since that time we presently have successfully drilled two wells in this remote desert area.
These new wells have now been a constant source of clean, fresh water for hundreds of people. It now gives hope for self-sufficiency and a future.

> June 2009 Update: Ryan Schumacker and his team have drilled 25 successful water wells these past ten months!

Irrigation System Planned
Plans are now to equip these wells with solar pumps and begin to put in place an irrigation system, which will allow them to grow their crops even during the dry seasons.
Micro Businesses - From Poverty to Prosperity ~
Love Mercy believes not only in giving to the poor, but investing in the poor. We believe that with a little help and guidance, many can find themselves leaving poverty and entering into prosperity through Micro-Businesses. We have helped to start many micro-businesses which have now become very productive. Below are a few of our products, which are now selling in the local stores.
Some of our future projects will include:
Education ~
The Turkana area is a very remote desert area of Northwest Kenya. Here illiteracy is estimated to be around 99.9%.
In 2005, we began a school with only a temporary structure. In 2006, we completed a permanent building for schooling. The government of Kenya has agreed to partner with us. As we build school buildings, they have agreed to provide the teachers.
Together with your support, we can continue to join with the Kenyan government to battle illiteracy in this remote area.
